Editorial Policy

Scottish Highlands Tours is an independent editorial guide. This policy explains how we research tours, how we compare them, and what we will and will not claim, so readers can judge our guides with confidence.

How tours are researched

We start with the tour type, departure city and route, then check what a booking page states about duration, stops, group size, inclusions, meeting arrangements and cancellation terms. We compare like with like: a one-day coach trip is not judged by the same standard as a multi-day small-group tour or a self-drive itinerary. Where a detail is not stated clearly on the booking page, we flag it as something to check rather than guessing.

No fabricated first-hand experience

We do not claim to have taken a tour, visited a viewpoint at a particular time, or spoken to a guide unless that is genuinely the case. Our guides are desk-based comparisons built from published tour information, geography and honest reasoning about distances and timing. A long day trip, for example, can be described as demanding on the basis of road distance and the number of stops alone, without inventing a personal anecdote.

Prices, availability and accuracy

Prices, availability, departure times and inclusions change frequently and vary by season. We therefore avoid quoting a specific tour price, rating or review count in our guides. Always check the live booking page before you book; it is the authoritative source. If you find that a guide is out of date, please tell us via our contact page and we will review it.

How guides are updated

Guides are reviewed when routes, departure points or booking arrangements appear to have changed, and when readers report an error. We do not accept payment to rank a tour higher, and commercial links do not change our assessment. See our affiliate disclosure for how bookings through partner links support this site.
